We've been talking about visiting Dominican Republic for years, and somehow never quite made it there yet. So when we decided to look at booking a vacation this time around, Dominican Republic was calling to us. We did some research and decided we wanted to book in Punta Cana. I'm a big fan of a nice flat beach, with very small waves that I can just float around in for hours, so Punta Cana seemed just my speed.
To be honest, I can't even remember how we came across Secrets Cap Cana Resort. When we started looking for this trip we knew we wanted two things: to go somewhere we hadn't been before, and an adults only all inclusive. Well, check next to item #1. I narrowed down my search to adults only resorts in Punta Cana, because let me tell you there are SO MANY resorts to choose from in Punta Cana. After some back and forth we decided to book Secrets Cap Cana, and shortly after booking decided to upgrade to the Premier Club Swim Out room.
Getting to the resort from the airport is quick and easy. It's a short 15 minute drive. When we arrived at the resort we were greeted with cool towels and champagne. The lobby here is simply gorgeous! They took our luggage and escorted us to the premier lounge for check in. Check in was smooth and fast, and we were in our room in a breeze!
The room was very nice. Clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The bathroom had a huge shower with two rainfall showerheads. Our mini bar was well stocked and refreshed daily. And then of course there was the pool, mere steps from our room. We spent most of our time here. The temperature of the water was lovely, and even though the pool wasn't as private as we'd prefer (it was along a well used pathway and across from another pool) it was still very quiet. There was almost never anyone from the adjoining rooms using the swim out pool, which we were surprised by, but also really loved. It felt like our private pool!
The service at this resort was impeccable. Everyone was so friendly and professional and paid such close attention to our needs. We've stayed at a lot of all inclusive and I would rate this one the best when it comes to service!
The food here was good, but not amazing. There were lots of options to eat at, but the variety at each restaurant was limited, and the quality of the food was just ok. We didn't go hungry by any means, but I did find myself wishing there were more menu options to choose from. We used room service every day, it was fast an convenient. Secrets resorts all have a room service "box" in your room that allows staff to drop off your food and you to get it without opening the door. We really enjoyed that option, it was nice to not have to let someone into your room to get your food.
Let's talk about the beach. This beach. I see it in my dreams. I want to move to this beach. This beach was everything.
First, I'll say that there was a lot of seaweed, but that's kind of unavoidable when you travel to the Caribbean in the summer. It took the hotel crew almost our whole stay to get the beach cleared, and I will say that the staff at the resort next to us seemed to be much more quick about getting the seaweed off the beach. So, while that wasn't ideal, I wasn't about to let it ruin our vacation. Once you got past the seaweed that water couldn't have been more perfect.
Crystal clear, so warm, and just the most beautiful turquoise color. You could walk out half a mile and still be only chest deep in the water. It was so stunning, and one of the coolest ocean experiences I've ever had. I can't wait to go back to this beach one day and see it again...but this time I'll plan appropriately to avoid the seaweed!
Overall Secrets Cap Cana was incredible to stay at. We loved every second of our trip here and will definitely be back and checking out more Secrets resorts! Up next - Secrets Maroma Beach!
