Secrets Maroma Beach Review

This trip might take the record for being the quickest we've ever planned. We booked this trip just 19 days before we left.

We were all set to travel to the Dominican Republic and stay at the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, when the resort had to close due to damage from Hurricane Fiona. We had booked through Expedia and their customer service was fantastic, giving us a full refund for our trip. So with less than 3 weeks before we were supposed to go on vacation we had to scramble to find a new destination.

We had splurged on our DR trip and booked a swim out room, so I really wanted to find another swim out room somewhere else. I quickly searched through available rooms at resorts in Jamaica, St Lucia, and Mexico before finding available swim out rooms at Secrets Maroma Beach. A quick peek at the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were sold. Off to Mexico! Here's our Secrets Maroma Beach review!

View of Cancun from airplane

We loved this resort! It's about 30 minutes from the airport and located on a beautiful white sand beach. The grounds are well cared for and full of coatis, iguanas, and lizards. I loved the fountain that ran the length of the resort! There are a ton of little hidden nooks to sit and enjoy a beverage. We loved sitting on the patio off the lobby each night for drinks while the sun went down.

We booked a Junior Suite Swim Out King. Other reviews we read said that the swim out pools were cold, but that wasn't our experience. Ours was the perfect temperature. The room was very nice; clean, well decorated, and comfortable.

The food here was REALLY good, especially for an all inclusive. This resort had the typical al la carte restaurants that most Secrets resorts have, and the ones that we tried were all really good. Room service was great, though a little slow. The taco stand near the beach was fantastic, as well as the snack bar right next to it! I didn't have a bad meal the entire time we were there!

The beach and pool areas were really lovely to spend time at. It was a little hard to find a chair if you didn't get there early, especially on the beach. There was very little seaweed on the beach and the sand was powder soft.

We did do the vacation club "welcome breakfast" but only because we wanted the certificates to the spa. We hesitated before accepting and they upped the offer. But our 90 minute couples massage only cost us $75! And it was one of the best massages either of us have ever gotten!

Overall we loved this resort! It was small and quiet, which we loved. It had a lot of unique features, and the service and staff were excellent. We would definitely stay here again!
